So you have booked me as your wedding photographer and you want your pre-wedding session, but you’re not 100% sure what it is. During my consultation meetings we cover a lot of information and often a few weeks after I get some follow up questions, most of which relate to the pre-wedding photography session.
So to help I’ve written this blog with the frequently asked questions I get in relation to them. Hope it helps, if not you know you can message or call me x
What are they?
A pre-wedding session is a fantastic way to get to know me and for me to get to know you. It’s an opportunity to have fun and get some really stunning photos of you both relaxed, happy and enjoying this special time in your life.
This is a session for you and your fiance/fiancee to have some photos taken in a location that you love (or I can suggest places). Sometimes couples use these images as their save the date cards, other times it's a chance to come and get more comfortable with me and my camera. Recently my couples have called this session their dummy run!
What can you expect?
The session will last on average 1 hour
For me to take you through a range of poses that I blend into your wedding day - I have a very visual memory so I have nicknames for my poses: The cake topper, the slow dance, the movie kiss, the kitchen hug, to name but a few
To have some fun
To shake off all the nerves about being in front of the camera
You will recieve your own personal online gallery with around 40 images hand edited ready for downloading, sharing or printing

Who can come along?
This session is aimed at just you as a couple, but if you have children then you are more than welcome to bring them along, images including them will be added on top of your on average 40 images, but these will be for purchase only.
When do they take place?
They can take place any time prior to your wedding day. Some couple like to do it early on as they are nervous about having their picture taken, some like to use it as their save the date cards, others have it close to their wedding do so it feels fresh.
My advice would think about what you might do with the images, do you have time to book it during your favourite season. If you are feeling slightly anxious about it then maybe book it early on
Where can we have it?
I think these sessions work best outdoors so that’s always my advice. Locations need to be in a reasonable distance to either my location or yours. I can travel to destinations, however, this is a bespoke package to cover additional travel costs.
I love locations such as cornfields, woodlands, lakes. When choosing a location myself I think about what's in your background, either something interesting or plain to show you both off. I also like to choose locations where we can move around and have a few different backdrops.
What are the benefits of having one?
I talk a lot about how in today’s society we are very comfortable with taking selfies either with or without the ones we love. However, when a professional photographer comes along and says we are going to have some professional photos done the majority of us feel slightly uncomfortable. So for me these sessions are gold dust, it’s my job to make you feel like you are out with a friend and not a stranger, I also see it as my job to get to know you and what you are worried about and during this session ensure I am helping to overcome these and put you at ease.
During this session you get to experience my style which is more about giving you something to do/say/think about and not to get you to stand still in a freeze position. What I am always looking for is a connection; a touch, a cuddle, a kiss, laughter.
You get to feel comfortable in front of the camera and get to be super excited about your wedding day.
I hope this helps answer any questions you have about a pre-wedding photography session, but if not email/contact me.
